MARA
MARA is a hand-crafted scarf inspired by the Slavic goddess of winter, death, and dreams. Its design echoes traditional Ukrainian embroidery, blending ancient motifs on a knitted piece.
Made in Kent from soft, sustainable merino wool, MARA weaves together tones of creamy oat, black, and deep red to evoke snow, soil, and firelight. The pattern features symbolic arrows, trees, and protective forms, along with the goddess Mara herself — poised with a sickle in hand, a timeless emblem of the harvest’s end and winter’s reign — telling a story of seasonal change and resilience.
Part of my Autumn/Winter 2024 collection — a wearable myth for colder days.
MARA can also be knitted in a wider size at no extra cost — simply get in touch to arrange your custom order.
