This intricate design weaves a story of life and death from left to right, and back again - if you wish to see it that way! Our story starts in the land of the living with leaping frogs at the feet of folkloric figures. Above these figures, past the cottages, the thick forest expands until it meets tumbling snakes - a reminder of the never ending cycle of life before we pass through a harvest scene on the back of the shawl and enter the afterlife.

In the afterlife, the tumbling snakes give way to a more sinister forest scene reminiscent of catacombs and our folkloric figure has transformed into a magnificent skeletal being. Whichever route through this journey you take, you'll be kept warm with this shawl.

  • Sustainability

    This shawl is designed and hand-crafted by the designer-maker in Bridge Village, Kent, using 100% sustainably sourced merino wool that originates from Spain. The wool comes from non-mulesed sheep, is spun in England, and dyed using OEKO-TEX® certified dyes. As a natural fibre, merino wool is fully biodegradable.

    Craftsmanship

    Each shawl is individually made to order by the designer-maker behind Handmade in Bridge. Every piece is carefully knitted in Kent, ensuring exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a truly unique designer merino wool shawl.

    Due to the handmade nature of the work, each piece may vary slightly, making every shawl one of a kind.

    Made to Order

    As each shawl is handmade, please allow 2–3 weeks for production and shipping once your order has been placed.

    Delivery

    Complimentary delivery and gift packaging are included in the price.

    Size

    Approximately 210 cm long × 60 cm wide

    Composition

    100% sustainably sourced merino wool, spun in the UK.

  • Washing Instructions:

    • Make sure your sink is clean or use a plastic bowl.

    • Fill with cold water.

    • A few drops of mild detergent.

    • If you don’t have detergent on hand, regular liquid soap will do the trick.

    • Throw your merino shawl into the soapy water and let it soak for 10 minutes.

    • Gently agitate the water from time to time.

    • Drain and rinse your piece with fresh water.

    • Do not wring out.

    Drying:

    • The best way to dry your merino shawl is by laying it flat on a towel and flipping it from time to time. This takes a little longer, but it’s the best way to care for it.

    • Alternatively, you can hang it to dry over a chair or bannister.

    • Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

    We offer free shipping worldwide and will send you the tracking number once the item(s) have been dispatched.

    Any customs taxes and duties charged at shipping outside the UK are the responsibility of the customer. Please check before you purchase.

    Returns Policy

    We hope you are happy with your purchase(s). However, if you wish to return, you have 14 days of receipt of your order(s). All items must be returned new, unused, unwashed in perfect condition, and in original packaging.

    Please take care when trying on your garment by removing jewellery and avoid transferring cosmetics onto your order(s).

    The cost of returning goods is the customer’s responsibility.
