This shawl evokes the practice of fire scrying - gazing into the embers and flames for messages from the otherworld. The devil dances in the flickering flames, bringing hourglasses and thorns into existence, proposing another way to see.

This design encompasses a mouse in a plant pot, with the devil sprouting from this pot, blowing his horn. Out of the devil's horn appears visions of hourglasses and thorns which climb - like flames - to meet in the back of the design with rats poised to scramble down the thorns.

Handcrafted to order in Bridge Village, Kent, in 100% sustainably sourced merino wool - Scrying is a shawl that envelopes your world and provides protection while you gaze into the flames.

  • Sustainability

    This shawl is designed and hand-crafted by the designer-maker in Bridge Village, Kent, using 100% sustainably sourced merino wool that originates from Spain. The wool comes from non-mulesed sheep, is spun in England, and dyed using OEKO-TEX® certified dyes. As a natural fibre, merino wool is fully biodegradable.

    Craftsmanship

    Each shawl is individually made to order by the designer-maker behind Handmade in Bridge. Every piece is carefully knitted in Kent, ensuring exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a truly unique designer merino wool shawl.

    Due to the handmade nature of the work, each piece may vary slightly, making every shawl one of a kind.

    Made to Order

    As each shawl is handmade, please allow 2–3 weeks for production and shipping once your order has been placed.

    Delivery

    Complimentary delivery and gift packaging are included in the price.

    Size

    Approximately 200 cm long × 60 cm wide

    Composition

    100% sustainably sourced merino wool, spun in the UK.

  • Washing Instructions:

    • Make sure your sink is clean or use a plastic bowl.

    • Fill with cold water.

    • A few drops of mild detergent.

    • If you don’t have detergent on hand, regular liquid soap will do the trick.

    • Throw your merino shawl into the soapy water and let it soak for 10 minutes.

    • Gently agitate the water from time to time.

    • Drain and rinse your piece with fresh water.

    • Do not wring out.

    Drying:

    • The best way to dry your merino shawl is by laying it flat on a towel and flipping it from time to time. This takes a little longer, but it’s the best way to care for it.

    • Alternatively, you can hang it to dry over a chair or banister.

    • Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

    We offer free shipping worldwide and will send you the tracking number once the item(s) have been dispatched.

    Please note:

    Any customs taxes and duties charged at shipping outside the UK are the responsibility of the customer. Please check before you purchase.

    Returns Policy:

    We hope you are happy with your purchase(s). However, if you wish to return, you have seven 14 of receipt of your order(s). All items must be returned new, unused, unwashed in perfect condition, and in original packaging.

    Please take care when trying on your garment by removing jewellery and avoid transferring cosmetics onto your order(s).

    The cost of returning goods is the customer’s responsibility.
